As you enter Old Mackinac Point Light Station, you are stepping into a complex machine. This machine was made up of several smaller systems, such as the fog signal equipment and the Fresnel lens at the top of the Tower. The technology of each system played a key role in the station’s operation, and relied upon scientific principles of light and sound to keep sailors safe.
This exhibit allows you to touch, hear, and experience these scientific principles in action.
